Introduction
Device programming summary
- Devices are programmed using C++17 (some older devices use C++11).
- The devices contain an operating system known as Device OS that provides a standard API for system and hardware services.
- Each device only runs a single firmware binary that implements all of the desired functionality.
- There are functions to interact with cloud services in the
Cloudclass. - Devices have connectivity to the cloud using the
Cellular,Wifi, orEthernetclasses. - In most cases, the devices will be pre-configured with things such as network credentials so it is not necessary to add this code to applications.
- Startup code is generally placed in the
setup()function. - Operational code is placed in the
loop()function. It should minimize blocking and return as quickly as possible. - There are many similarities to the Wiring API used on Arduino devices.
