Device identifiers

Device name

We do not recommend using the device name as an identifier. Most API calls cannot efficiently use a device name, and device names are only guaranteed to be unique across a single claimed user account. When used in a product, device names are not guaranteed to be unique.

The device name is available by the Particle cloud API get device information in the name field. You both get and set the name.
